5 Tips To Losing Weight With Convenience Food

While it would be ideal to make all of our own snacks
and meals from scratch everyday, the plain and simple
truth is that most of us simply don’t have that kind of time.
This is where we turn to convenience foods to meet our
dietary and weight loss needs.

However, the right convenience foods in the right amounts
can easily be integrated into almost any diet.

TIP 1 - Shop Smart

Never shop on an empty stomach. This will only make it harder
for you to make choices that are in your best interests.
Always be prepared with a thorough shopping list and do not
divert from it. If an aisle is full of tempting goodies but
has nothing on your list, simply walk right by it, instead of
down it.

TIP 2 - Read Labels

All convenience foods are not the same. Depending on your
chosen diet, some will fit much better into your routine
than others. This is why it’s important to become an informed
consumer and never place anything in your grocery basket
unless you’ve read the label and determined it’s in your
best interests to buy it.

TIP 3 - Trim The Fat

Just because a macaroni and cheese frozen dinner is oozing
extra cheese doesn’t mean you have to eat it. A common sense
approach to preparing and consuming convenience foods can go
a long way to making them healthier.
When you take a frozen meal out halfway to stir it, remove
or blot away any excess oils and fats. Transfer to a real
plate when finished, so you can discard the excess sauces.

TIP 4 - Portion Control

It’s easy to lose track of how much you’ve eaten when you
drink or eat straight from the container. Stay on track by
carefully measuring out serving sizes before you begin eating.
When you do buy items like chips or pretzels, locate the
appropriate serving size on the nutrition label. As soon
as you arrive home, divide the larger bag into individual
servings in small plastic baggies.

TIP 5 - Make Your Own

There’s no rule that says only store-bought, pre-packaged
foods are convenient. Take time on the weekend or on days
off to do some conscientious grocery shopping and cook one
or two large meals of something healthy that you enjoy.
Separate into serving sizes and refrigerate (or freeze)
as necessary. Voila! Now you have your own frozen dinners
(or lunches, or snacks) with much healthier contents.

In conclusion, choosing the ideal convenience food to help with
weight loss is not a simple task in today’s world of
fast-paced living. But there sure are many helpful planning
solutions available to fit every budget both online and in
the real world. And by choosing foods to help with our
individual health issues and concerns, and reaching out for
support, information and dietary planning when needed,
not one of us has to “go it” alone.

Exercise! Or Go Start An Ant Farm - How Boring Is That

In order to live a long healthy life, you must have a strong healthy body. There is no way around it. Proper dieting and exercise are a MUST. The good news is, it is not an impossible task. Like climbing a mountain, it will require some sweat equity. What a great investment of your time!

Just like building your financial strength, it is your responsibility to build your physical strength. No one can do it for you. We can encourage you and give you suggestions, but you must do it.

Two different types of exercises are required to become fit, strength training and cardio. The purpose of this article is not to go into the HOW’S, but to encourage you to get started and make exercise a part of your daily life.

My wife and I were headed down the wrong path physically. As health store owners, we knew better and had in the past been physically fit to a point. We had done it with cardio only. When we bought our business exercise stopped for several years and we became unfit.

In 2000, we heard of a fitness program called, Body for Life Challenge, by Bill Phillips. His challenge, “Do my program or go start an ant farm.” We took the challenge instead of the ant farm. In three months this one event turned our lives COMPLETELY AROUND.

Allow me to brag on my wife a little. Her dress size dropped from 12 to 4 in 12 weeks. Her weight dropped from 132 lbs. to 110 lbs. You would think that with such a change in dress size, her weight lost would have been more.

This is the beauty of combining weight training and cardio (which she had never done before), fat is burned and muscle build. Muscle takes up less body space than fat so her dress size dropped more than her weight, respectively.

We encourage you to go out and buy the book, Body for Life, by Bill Phillips, read it, understand it and get started with your transformation. The book is your road map. Or you could go start an ant farm. How boring is that!

You may say, “I am already fit.” Do the program and you will see that you may not be as fit as you think. If you know that you are not fit, then you most definitely need to do the program. For every mountain there is an excuse not to climb it. If you are not fit, it is those excuses that got you were you are today. We encourage you to climb this mountain. The view is worth the sweat it takes to climb it. We wish you the best!

Your Microwave is Killing You and Your Momma!

I’m not going to explain the history of microwaves because that is plain boring but what I will tell you is that they were founded by pure dumb luck like most scientific experiments, and was discovered during World War II of all times. Now just about every American family owns a microwave and pop food into their like nothing. Have you ever sat down and wondered how do microwaves cook foods so fast and why the texture is so different once they come out?

I must admit I used microwaves in the pass without a second thought because they were extremely quick and I was busy like everybody these days. However, something sparked my curiosity when one day I was microwaving a meal just chilling and my food just popped like popcorn and I was like “what in the world?” I mean it wasn’t the first time this happened but for some reason this time it slapped me right in the face. I was terrified to open the microwave fearing that something would squirt in my face.

My meal had squirted all over the microwave and I had to clean that mess out. I knew right then that something was fishy with microwaves and I did some extensive research and found some crippling secrets. The microwave emits radiation, that’s right radiation the stuff that causes cancer, similar to the ways cell phones put radiation right into your ear-hole.

A woman was actually killed by the microwave in the early 90s. She was given a blood transfusion and the blood was microwaved and she was killed by it. Why people don’t die from regular heated blood transfusions? It also significantly declines the nutrient quality of foods. Have you ever microwaved vegetables? If you noticed the vegetables will come out all soft, limp, and mushy almost like baby food.

They reduce nutrient content in vegetables by over 60 percent compared to just broiling it in light water! I threw out my microwave and I’m a fitness and nutrition expert so I know exactly what I’m talking about. I try to save as many people as possible but they just don’t want to give the microwave away.

I guess people will make an excuse for things that they love, it’s a psychological technique. You can live without a microwave, I did it and in matter of fact you can eat quick and convenient meals without a microwave. Come check me out at my website www.cardiacgym.com and I may have something for you. To tend have a healthful day, in health and fitness Doug Purcell.
